Hozugawa Boat Ride
A major event with over 3 million visitors each year
Kobe Luminarie was first held in December 1995, to pray for the repose of victims of the Great Hanshin earthquake that occurred that year, and also embody the hopes and dreams for the city's reconstruction and revitalization. Since then, it has become a firmly-established feature of wintertime in Kobe. Every year over 3 million visitors come to see this illumination event, which has become a symbol of Japan. Each year works of art are produced with a different theme.
By public transportation
About a 7 minute walk from JR/Hanshin Motomachi Station (may take up to 2 hours in some circumstances)
*A donation of 100 yen per person would be appreciated so that Kobe Luminarie can continue in the future
